Kazantip 2011: Non-stop Party On The Beach In Ukarine
Kazantip festival is held every year starting since 1992, in late July August on the beaches of the Western Crimea (Southern Ukraine). 2011 is the 19th year of the Festival. The Kazantip festival attracts thousands of young people from all post-Soviet space but recently the festival has also become popular among Europeans. Today you can meet here the Swedes, Dutch, Germans who find Kazantip pretty much similar to the famous parties in Ibiza.
Basically, the idea of Kazantip is a lot like Woodstock. The only difference is that the rock music of Woodstock is replaced here with trance-techno-acid-house electronic music of the 21st century. In addition to the differences in the music concept, there is one more sufficient difference from Woodstock: Kazantip lacks for the ideological base typical for the famous hippie movement. Kazantip, unlike Woodstock, is more fun, and sometimes it is just careless or even crazy.
Actually, Kazantip is self-proclaimed as an autonomous, independent Republic. The festival boast of its own President, government and the council of Ministers, police, and ordinary citizens of the Kazantip Republic, who are, of course, the majority.
The festival was founded as a small party for wind-surfers in Crimea. Kazantip received its name thanks to the name of the Cape, located nearby to the festival venue. As time passed, the fans of wind-surfing transformed into funs of parties and music. At last, only music left.
Originally, the dance floor of the festival was located near the village of Shelkino, in an unfinished building of nuclear reactor. The peak of popularity of Kazantip fell on 1997 which was the heyday of the rave culture. In 2000 the festival was forced to change the location and moved to the Western Coast of Crimea and got settled on the beach of a tiny resort settlement, Popovka, in other words in the middle of nowhere. Today the names of Kazantip and Popovka are known to music fans and party-goers all over the word.
However Kazantip is not only music and non-stop parting on the beach. Anyone familiar with the rave culture knows that it consists not only of music. One of the websites dedicated to Kazantip, describes it in the following way: Kazantip is not a place for an ideal family vacation, it's a crazy event, the sea of emotions and experiences, non-stop beach-party, the pressure of hundreds of kilowatts of sound and lighting equipment, it fills you with energy and love on the beach, it is wine from plastic bottles, its sleeping under the stars, etc., etc.
Kazantip Festival 2011 will be held on the Crimea coast since 30 June to 20 August, 2011. The opening of Kazantip is probably one of the brightest highlights in the lives of thousands of young people from all over the world. This is the time when you can see and listen to the worlds most known DJs, when you can dance non-stop, 24 hours a day and enjoy your live in full. It is also considered to be a milestone because it begins a new year and everyone looks forward to learning what happens this time, what adventures the organizers have prepared and it is no doubt that Kazantip 2011 will be breathtaking, as usual!
