Facebook Flub: Man Charged with Polygamy After Posting Second Wedding Photo Online

You'll never believe who turned him in: his first wife - because the two were still married.

Here's a tip we never thought we'd have to share: If you're already married, don't post pictures of your new wife on Facebook.

An already-married Grand Rapids, Mich. man had what NewsFeed can only assume was a joyous wedding ceremony last July. But it turns out Richard Barton, Jr. already had a wife, whom he married in 2004. (See photos of a convicted polygamist.)

When photos of Barton and his new Michigan wife turned up on Facebook, his old (but still current) wife, living in Rhode Island, took issue with Barton. She alerted authorities, who arrested Barton for polygamy.

The saga started in 2004 when Barton married the R.I. woman. Months later, Barton mysteriously failed to return home one evening, leaving his wife clueless as to his whereabouts. He was behind bars and not to return home, well, ever. (Is Utah, a polygamist haven, trying to shed its image?)

It appears that post-release, he fled to Michigan and started anew, though he failed to divorce his R.I. wife. She was clued in to the new wife when Barton defriended her on Facebook. Barton now faces polygamy charges, which carry a four-year jail sentence.

We predict Barton will soon go from having two wives - to zero.

Twitter marks fifth birthday with new website

SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) – Twitter on Monday marked its fifth birthday with a new website and online video of celebrities talking up the world-changing micro-blogging service.

A video at the new discover.twitter.com website featured billionaire entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson, tennis star Serena Williams, astronaut Paolo Nespoli, rapper Snoop Dogg and others explaining why they use Twitter.

Jack Dorsey fired off the first tweets on March 21, 2006, an automated "just setting up my twttr" message which he followed with the first "human" tweet -- "inviting coworkers."

It was Dorsey who proposed the idea for Twitter while working with Biz Stone and Evan Williams at podcasting company Odeo.

Since then, Twitter has been embraced as a forum for sharing anything from a favorite lunch spot to violations of civil rights and calls for revolution.

In a recent interview with AFP, Stone likened Twitter to a five-year-old child getting ready to go to kindergarten for the first time.

"It is just the beginning of a life full of potential and adventure, and I really do think that is where we are right now," Stone said.

"We are just about to go to school and just getting started," he said. "The last five years has really just been us getting our footing."

Nokia says events in Japan will disrupt product supply

HELSINKI (AFP) – The world's leading mobile phone maker Nokia said Monday that the earthquake and tsunami in Japan would disrupt product supply but would not significantly impact its first quarter results.

"Although a complete picture is not available, Nokia expects some disruption to the ability of its Devices & Services unit to supply a number of products due to the currently anticipated industry-wide shortage of relevant components and raw materials sourced from Japan," the company said in a statement.

"However, Nokia does not expect any material impact on its Q1 2011 results due to this event," it added.

Company spokesman James Etheridge told AFP Nokia was assessing the situation to identify exactly what might be running low and what can be done about it.

"We're talking to our suppliers, basically getting a handle on where we can access alternative sources for suppliers and components, as well as looking at different production process that would mitigate the effect of the shortages," he said.

Etheridge said that the tragic events in Japan have not impacted the company's operations in Japan, as Nokia has offices in Tokyo and Osaka but no manufacturing or research and development operations in Japan.
